Coordination of ruthenium phthalocyanine with poly(4-vinylpyridine)†
Abstract
Ruthenium phthalocyanine (RuPc) are promising dyes as semiconductors for organic electronics but their crystallization makes their processing into thin film applications a challenge. We report RuPc complexes with poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) and P4VP-b-PS block copolymers to enable solution processing. Optical and electrochemical characterization revealed similar characteristics between bound and unbound RuPc, suggesting that polymer templates can be used to import solubilizing and film forming properties without compromising the optoelectronic properties.
