Retracted Article: A fluffy sphere-like NiCoCu-carbonate hydroxide based electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction in pH neutral electrolyte solution

Abstract

Highly efficient, serviceable, and cost-efficient electrode materials for electrochemical water oxidation to evolve O2 is an important factor in renewable chemical fuels, including water splitting and reusable metal−air battery. Herein, the fluffy sphere-like (NiCoCu)(OH)2(CO3)-X-Y (X = 5~20 h, Y= 100~175 °C) particles were prepared via solvothermal method. Due to the increase of active surface area and electrons transferred ability caused by the participation of Ni and Cu in the Co2(OH)2CO3, the obtained (NiCoCu)(OH)2(CO3)-10 h-100 °C exhibits preferable water oxidation activity (η = 490 mV at 10 mA cm-2) and immobile durative (24 h for continuous test) compared with pure Co2(OH)2CO3 and physically mixed reagents (Co2(OH)2CO3, Ni(NO3)2, and Cu(NO3)2). Therefore, our research offers a new strategy to develop high-efficiency catalyst system towards electrochemical water oxidation.
