Photosalient ionic cocrystal composed of trimesic acid and 4-styrylpyridine

Abstract

In this communication, we report that 4-styrylpyridine and its protonated one are arranged in a head-to-tail fashion by forming hydrogen bonds with trimesic acid used as a template, as well as showing behavior such as movement, leaping, and splitting as [2 + 2] photodimerization occurs by UV irradiation.
