A novel three-position molecular switch based on the transformations of a cyano-substituted pyrrol-2-one derivative

Abstract

The possibility of creating the first representative of a novel group of molecular switches sensitive to the solvent, to the action of acid–base reagents and to temperature changes has been shown based on the directionally synthesized 5-phenyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-pyrrol-2-one containing a buta-1,3-diene-1,1,3-tricarbonitrile acceptor. The obtained result reveals a new branch of research in the field of multicolor reversibly tunable molecular systems sensitive to several factors.
