Isolation and purification of 4-propylguaiacol and 4-propylsyringol by extraction and crystallization from the products of reductive catalytic fractionation processes

Abstract

Herein, we report an easy method based on extraction and crystallization for the isolation and purification of two representative lignin monomers, 4-propylguaiacol and 4-propylsyringol, from the products of reductive catalytic fractionation processes. The GC purities of the isolated 4-propylguaiacol and 4-propylsyringol reach 93.1% and 98.3%, respectively.
