Defective CuO-rich CuFe2O4 nanofibers enable the efficient synergistic electrochemical reduction of nitrate to ammonia

Abstract

We report defective Cu-rich CuFe2O4 nanofibers as an efficient catalyst for reducing nitrate, which achieves an NH3 yield of 9.21 mg h−1 mgcat.−1 and a Faradaic efficiency of 91.08% in 0.1 M PBS and 0.1 M NO3 and exhibits excellent stability. The reaction mechanism is revealed by theoretical calculations.
