Facile solvothermal synthesis of plate-like submicron NaNbO3 particles

Abstract

Plate-like particles of orthorhombic NaNbO3 were obtained via a solvothermal reaction using a methanol/ethanol mixed solvent, in contrast to the formation of cubic NaNbO3 particles from methanol alone. Control of the submicron NaNbO3 particle morphology was achieved by simply changing the solvent, suggesting the role of ethanol in suppressing the growth in one direction.
