Preparation of a BTA–UIO–GO nanocomposite to endow coating systems with active inhibition and passive anticorrosion performances
Abstract
In this work, a nanocomposite with active and passive corrosion protection performances was synthesized through a facile method. A metal organic framework (UIO-66) was chosen as the nanocontainer to encapsulate the corrosion inhibitor benzotriazole (BTA). Graphene oxide (GO) was utilized to act as a physical barrier. The active protection ability was achieved by two aspects. One is the pH-stimulated release of the loaded inhibitors from nanocontainers and the other is the passive film (ZrO2), which resulted from the disintegrated UIO-66 under alkaline conditions. The passive protection capacity was provided by the outstanding barrier property of GO.
