Red-emissive Poly(phenylene vinylene)-derivated Semiconductors with Well-balanced Ambipolar Electrical Transporting Property

Abstract

Herein, the design and synthesis of two novel poly(phenylene vinylene)-derivated semiconductors, poly(benzopyrrolone-p-phenylene-vinylene) (PBPPV) and poly(benzopyrrolone-di-p-phenylene-vinylene) (diPBPPV) for emissive organic materials integrating ambipolar electrical property are presented. Serving as electron-deficient and π-extending units in PPV backbone for lactam groups, the obtained PBPPV and diPBPPV demonstrate wide red emission range with high quantum yield up 7%, and well-balanced ambipolar transporting performance with electron and hole mobility of approaching 4.5×10-4 and 3.0×10-4 cm2 V-1 s-1, respectively.
