Preparation of cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) films from copolymers with benzoxaborole and carboxylic acid groups, and their degradability in an oxidizing environment

Abstract

Functionalized PVA films were prepared from copolymers with benzoxaborole and carboxyl groups. The hydroxy groups of PVA were cross-linked by two kinds of covalent bonds. The water-insoluble functionalized PVA films were degraded by the oxidizing nature of NaClO·5H2O aqueous solution within 25 hours at 25 °C.
