Constructing of efficient dual activating ratiometric YVO4:Nd3+/Eu3+ nanothermometer: co-doping or mixture

Abstract

Development of new contactless thermal nanosensors based on ratiometric approach is of significant interest. To overcome intrinsic limitation of thermally-coupled levels, dual activation strategy was applied. Dual activation was performed via co-doping in a single nanoparticle and a binary mixture of single doped nanoparticles. Co-doped and mixed YVO4:Nd3+/Eu3+ nanoparticles were successfully demonstrated as luminescence nanothermometers. Their thermometric performances in terms of thermal sensitivity, temperature resolution as well as repeatability, were studied and compared.
