Cyclodextrin-mediated colloidal synthesis of highly luminescent and stable CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals
Colloidal cesium lead bromide perovskite nanocrystals (CsPbBr3 PNCs) were synthesized using cyclodextrins (CDs) as a sole ligand at room-temperature. Compared to the conventional synthesis using the combinatorial ligand of oleic acid and oleylamine, the α-CD-mediated synthesis yielded PNCs with a greater productivity, a higher photoluminescence quantum yield (85%), and longer resistances to moisture, heat and laser irradiation. The reason for this phenomenon arises from strong interactions between the CD hydroxyl groups and the perovskite metal ions. Using the non-toxic and low-cost CDs, the synthesis of colloidal PNCs is more economic and eco-friendly than ever.
