Formation of the non-classical interhalide anion [I2Cl] in methyl-bambus[6]uril cavity

Abstract

Methyl-bambus[6]uril may form a variety of inclusion compounds, especially with anionic species. This communication reports the formation of the non-classical [I2Cl] interhalide ion when chloride-bearing methyl-bambus[6]uril interacts with iodine, both in solution and in the solid state.
