Pyrolysis-driven synthesis of nanoscale carambola-like carbon decorated with atomically dispersed Fe sites toward efficient oxygen reduction reaction

Abstract

We report the pyrolysis of uniform nanocapsules of ironIII porphyrin metal–organic frameworks (MOF PCN-222), evolving into carambola-like electrocatalysts enclosed by six concave facets. The nanocarambolas merely comprise of atomically dispersed Fe sites and exhibit efficient activity and durability toward the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) relative to commercial Pt/C.
