Visual multiple color emission of solid-state carbon dots

Abstract

The visual multiple color emission performance of solid-state carbon dots (CDs) is critical for their applications, but achieving this is still a highly challenging task. Herein, solid-state luminescent CDs (SNC/Lap), possessing visual multiple color emission capability, have been prepared by a facile in situ synthesis within the confined interlayer of the host 2D matrix LAPONITE®. Tailoring the reaction conditions realized the wide-ranging tunability of multiple color emission, which includes cyan, green, yellow-green, yellow, and orange emissions. In addition, the as-synthesized SNC/Lap demonstrated bright prospectives for application in white light-emitting diodes. This work opens up a new opportunity for the development of visual multiple color light emitting devices.
