A Small-Molecule Organic Cathode with Fast Charge-Discharge Capability for K-ion Batteries

Abstract

Perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide (137 mAh g−1) is initially exploited as the new organic cathode for K-ion batteries. In half cells, it can deliver the stable capacity of ~120 mAh g-1 (600 cycles) at 4 A g-1 and host ~80 mAh g-1 at 10 A g-1. In the full cells with working voltage above 1 V, it can display the average capacity of ~127 mAh g-1 at 50 mA g-1 over 30 cycles.
