Clean synthesis of ZnCo2O4@ZnCo-LDHs yolk–shell nanospheres composed of ultra-thin nanosheets with enhanced electrocatalytic properties

Abstract

A clean and facile template-engaged approach was developed for the synthesis of ZnCo2O4@ZnCo-layered double hydroxide (ZnCo-LDH) yolk–shell nanospheres via controlled hydrolysis of mixed metal glycolates. The ZnCo2O4@ZnCo-LDHs have novel structures and exhibit good oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity, with an overpotential (η) of 375 mV at 10 mA cm−2vs. RHE and a Tafel slope of 73 mV dec−1 in 1.0 M KOH.
