Moist-Electric Generation

Abstract

The exploration of green and clean energy could solve the increasingly serious problem of environmental pollution and energy crisis on the earth. Ubiquitous moist air is widely around the word, which especially contains huge chemical potential energy because of the gaseous state of water molecules. Recently, our group found out the direct electricity generation by the interaction between moisture and many functional materials, which opened a window for the utilization of moisture power that has aroused the upsurge studies on moist-electric generation (MEG). In this minireview, we will provide a brief and systematical discussion on MEG from work mechanism, the recent progress in advanced materials to practical applications. The current challenges and the potential trends of MEG are also outlined to guide the design and synthesis of high-performance MEG devices in the future.
