Facile preparation and characterization of nanofiber coated textile: durable and rechargeable antibacterial activity

Abstract

Antibacterial textile could protect human beings from the harmful bacteria. Herein, a facile method was used to prepare the durable and rechargeable antibacterial cotton textile, no organic solvent and no heating. The process was suitable for continuous production. The cotton textile showed high and durable antibacterial activity, and the antibacterial activity could be recharged through chelating Cu2+. There was nanofiber coating on the textile surface which had nanoscale pore size, so the textile could block bacteria efficiently, the direct contact way was cut off between pathogens and users by the antibacterial textile. Excellent antibacterial activity and shielding efficiency against bacteria made the textile could protect the users from direct and indirect contacting with pathogenic, prevent the bacteria spreading with textiles. The facile preparation method of antibacterial cotton textile also provides a universal reference to prepare other antibacterial textiles such as wool, flax, nylon and so on.
