Conformation-induced separation of 3-Chloropropene from 1-Chloropropane through nanoporous monolayer graphenes

Abstract

We obtained three kinds of nanopore geometries with infinite selectivity of 3-Chloropropene from 1-Chloropropane/3-Chloropropene mixtures, and proposed the separation mechanism that the molecule twisting to the preferable conformation for nanopores with low energy penalty is allowed to penetrate the membrane. This provides a potential approach to separate olefin/paraffin mixtures with similar physicochemical properties.
