A mitochondria–nucleolus migration fluorescent probe for monitoring of mitochondrial membrane potential and identification of cell apoptosis

Abstract

A dicationic probe (Cz-Bz-1) was presented with excellent photostability and large Stokes shifts, which could migrate from mitochondria to the nucleolus and report mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) changes. Moreover, Cz-Bz-1 was successfully applied to visualize the decrease of MMP induced by H2O2 and cis-platinum during cell apoptosis.
