Rational design of a triiodide-intercalated dielectric-switching hybrid for visible-light absorption

Abstract

Intercalation can induce novel optical and electronic properties in many materials. Here, we design the first triiodide-intercalated dielectric-switching hybrid of (n-propylaminiun)4·I3·BiI6, which displays a narrow bandgap of 1.34 eV, being comparable to that of CH3NH3PbI3 (1.53 eV). Emphatically, its semiconducting properties were solidly determined by notable carrier mobility efficiency, conductivity and photoconductive behaviors.
