Electric-field control of magnetic properties for amorphous Fe2O3/LiTaO3 thin film

Abstract

Amorphous-Fe2O3/LiTaO3 film can exhibit weak ferromagnetism, which may come from some inhomogenous non-collinear ferromagnetic ordered cluster with short range order. Perpendicular electric field upon amorphous-Fe2O3/LiTaO3 film could adjust its magnetic properties at 300 K. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of amorphous-Fe2O3/LiTaO3 film can be enhanced by the positive electric field and reduced by the negative electric field. The change induced by electric field, which is reversible and non-volatile, may be connected with the migration effects of Li+ ions. The oscillation of the curve for the saturation magnetization dependent on the voltage may reflect the complicated processes. This remarkable and important progress may inspire more in-depth research and lead to an alternative approach to future magneto-electronic devices.
