Facile synthesis of a PbS1−xSex (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) solid solution using bis(N,N-diethyl-N′-naphthoylchalcogenoureato)lead(ii) complexes†
Abstract
A nanocrystalline PbS1−xSex (where 0 ≤ x ≤ 1) solid solution has been synthesized over the entire range of composition using bis(N,N-diethyl-N′-naphthoyl thio- (1) and seleno- (2) ureato) complexes of lead, via the hot injection route. The p-XRD analysis of the PbS1−xSex series shows that the diffraction peaks of the alloy system is intermediate between pure PbS and PbSe. The alloyed nanoparticles displayed cubic morphologies similar to the parent materials. The absorption band gap for the alloyed system showed a linear shift from PbS to PbSe as a function of composition and is related to the change in the lattice parameters.
