BaLiZn3(BO3)3: a new member of the KBe2BO3F2 family possessing dense BO3 triangles and the smallest interlayer distance

Abstract

BaLiZn3(BO3)3, a new beryllium-free KBe2BO3F2-type borate, features special 2[LiZn3(BO3)3] layers evolved from 2[Be2BO3F2] layers in KBe2BO3F2via substituting BeO4 with Li/ZnO4 tetrahedra. The adjacent layers are tightly connected via strong Li/Zn–O covalent bonds, generating dense BO3 triangles and the smallest interlayer distance among the KBe2BO3F2 derivatives.
