Structural variation determined by length-matching effects: towards the formation of flexible porous molecular crystals

Abstract

The length ratio of the alkyl chain to the spacer group will significantly influence the crystal structure of gemini molecules with rigid spacers. When the ratio reaches approximately 1.24, flexible molecular crystals will form. Such crystals show porosity in chloroform vapor. Otherwise, different crystal structures will form.
