Reactivity and properties of bis(chlorodifluoroacetyl) peroxide generated in-situ from chlorodifluoroacetic anhydride for chlorodifluoromethylation reactions

Abstract

We developed a practical chlorodifluoromethylation by using chlorodifluoroacetic anhydride. Instability of BCDFAP, in-situ generated from CDFAA, due to chlorine on CF2Cl group was identified to cause low yield of catalytic chlorodifluoromethylation of alkene. A combination of Cu(II) catalyst and pyridine additive achieved efficient allylic and amino-chlorodifluoromethylations of alkenes. In addition, carbo- and aromatic chlodifluoromethylations readily proceeded under metal-free conditions.
