PDMS mixed matrix membranes filled with novel PSS-2 nanoparticles for ethanol/water separation by pervaporation

Abstract

Poly-oligosiloxysilicone (PSS-2), a copolymer of silicone fragments and silicate oligomers was utilized as a filler to prepare PDMS-based MMMs. These filled membranes showed an improved performance in the separation of ethanol from water thanks to the hydrophobicity and specific pore structure of the filler.
