In this study a click chemistry approach was used to synthesize polyoxometalate–polymer hybrids with well-defined structures. The starting materials were a two-azido-containing organosilyl derivative of a Wells-Dawson-type polyoxometalate and a propargyl-terminated poly(ε-caprolactone). The clicking reaction between the azido groups and alkynyl groups was found to be very efficient and the structures of the hybrids were well-defined. This breakthrough will promote a great development in the synthesis of various polyoxometalate–polymer hybrids and broaden their potential application.
