Efficient and convenient C-3 functionalization of indoles through Ce(OAc)3/TBHP-mediated oxidative C–H bond activation in the presence of β-cyclodextrin

Abstract

A simple, green and efficient protocol for the selective C-3 functionalization of indoles with ketones and olefinsviaCe(OAc)3-TBHP mediated oxidative C–H activation in the presence of β-cyclodextrin in water has been developed. This atom-economical protocol affords the target products in good to excellent yields. The products can be separated by a simple extraction with organic solvent, and the catalytic system can be recycled and reused without loss of catalytic activity.
