The domino synthesis of benzo[f]quinolinyl and benzo[h]quinolinyl acetamides from diketene, amines, aromatic aldehydes and naphthalenamine was developed, and the catalystiodine was found to be crucial to the reaction. The structure was deduced from the mass spectrum, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectrum and 2D NMR performed on two representative products.
