Oxidative transformation of thiol groups to disulfide bonds in mesoporous silicas: a diagnostic reaction for probing distribution of organic functional groups

Abstract

A novel reaction route for the oxidation of thiol groups to disulfide bonds in mesoporous silicas with the aid of Cu2+ adsorption is reported for the first time, and most importantly it can serve as a diagnostic reaction for probing the spatial proximity and distribution of organic functional groups.
