1D lanthanide(iii) coordination polymers with disulfideligand generated in situ

Abstract

Three 1D Ln(III) - disulfide complexes [Dy(2,2′-DTDN)1.5(DMSO)3]·H2O (1), [Nd(2,2′-DTDN)1.5(DMSO)3] (2), and [Eu(2,2′-DTDN)1.5(DMSO)3]·H2O (3) (DTDN = dithiodinicotinate) have been synthesized and characterized with single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The ligand dithiodinicotinate was generated in situ by two molecules of 2-mercaptonicotinic acid. These complexes are isostructural except for the lattice water molecules and show a double-chain structure built up from two chiral single-chain motifs. Compound 3 shows strong red fluorescent emissions in the solid state at room temperature. The magnetic properties of these three compounds were studied in the range of 2–300 K.
