Void and filled supramolecular nanoprisms—notable differences between seemingly identical construction principles

Abstract

Void and filled supramolecular nanoprisms (void: 4900 Å3) were furnished in quantitative yield utilising the (terpyridine)-Zn2+-(phenanthroline) complex as a dynamic and heteroleptic building motif (HETTAP approach), but only if units serving as panels and pillars in the self-assembly were optimised with regard to their kinetic behaviour.
