Solvent-mediated transformation of a 1 : 1 2,3-bis-fluoren-9-ylidene succinic acid–ethanol solvate to the 1 : 2 solvate

Abstract

When crystallized from ethanol, 2,3-bis-fluoren-9-ylidene succinic acid produces a solvate having H : G ratio 1 : 1 (form I, pale-yellow needles) which is slowly but completely transformed into the 1 : 2 solvate (form II, orange prisms).
