Magnetic properties of thin α-p-nitrophenyl nitronyl nitroxide films

Abstract

By stabilising the otherwise unstable α-phase of the p-nitrophenyl nitronyl nitroxide radical as thin films we experimentally observe that this phase nearly behaves as a Curie paramagnet, as evidenced by a small Weiss temperature (θ = −0.3 K), in agreement with recent measurements performed on a rather unique single crystal.
