The ‘globule–globule’ hybrid dicarbaborane–polyoxometallate salt, [C2B10H11CH2NHCH(CH3)2]4[W10O32][H2O]2[(CH3)2CO]4

Abstract

The ‘globule–globule’ salt, [C2B10H11CH2NHCH(CH3)2]4[W10O32][H2O]2[(CH3)2CO]4, contains new iminium dicarbaborane cluster cations, [C2B10H11CH2NH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH(CH3)2]+, and decatungstate cluster anions, [W10O32]4−, linked by hydrogen bonded H2O and (CH3)2CO solvent molecules to form a hydrophilic/hydrophobic lamellar structure.
