Photodimerization of 2-pyridone in cocrystals with carboxylic acids using the stacking effect of naphthalene rings
Abstract
During the crystalline-state photoreaction of 2-pyridone–carboxylic acid cocrystals, the 2-pyridone moieties were dimerized in the cocrystal with 2-naphthylacetic acid due to a stacking structure with a carbon-to-carbon distance appropriate for [4 + 4] cycloaddition.
