Tuning the metal-based redox potentials of manganese cis,cis-1,3,5-triaminocyclohexane complexes

Abstract

A selection of 5-substituted salicylaldehydes have been reacted with cis,cis-triaminocyclohexane to prepare a series of tri-imine and tri-amine ligands; cyclic voltammetry has been used to show that the electronic effect of the substituent has a marked and systematic effect on the MnIII/MnIV and MnIII/MnII redox potentials of their manganese complexes.
