Indirect standard electromotive force data for the H2|HCl|AgCl|Ag cell for methanol–watersolvents with low water content

Abstract

A procedure is described whereby electromotive force (emf ) data from a cell with solid state electrodes, conventionally used for the quantitative detection of residual water in methanolwater solvents, can be used to enhance existing standard emf data in the lower water range for the cell Pt(s), H2(g)|HCl (solution in MeOH–H2O)|AgCl(s)|Ag(s)|Pt(s).
