Abstract

Novel isomeric macrocycles II–IV incorporating an S2O2 donor set and the analogous acyclic ionophore I were tested for silver(I) ion-selective electrodes. The electrodes based on the acyclic ionophore I were found to give better electrochemical performances than their counterparts. In addition, an unusual X-ray crystal structure of a nitrate-bridged dimeric complex with silver(I) ion, [Ag2(I)2(NO3)](PF6), was characterized.
