1,3,5-Triaroylbenzenes as versatile inclusion hosts via C–H···O hydrogen bonding

Abstract

1,3,5-Tris(4-nitrobenzoyl)benzene was prepared by cyclotrimerization of (4-nitrobenzoyl)acetylene. This material was found to form 1:1 crystalline inclusion complexes with CH2Cl2 and DMSO as revealed by X-ray crystallography. These inclusion complexes are mediated by C–H···O hydrogen bonding.
