Abstract

The trigonally symmetric tris[4-(ferrocenylvinyl)-3-methylphenyl]methylium ion 4, a π-conjugated metallocene analog of Crystal Violet, has been prepared and shows strong absorption in the near-infrared region (λmax = 1068 nm).
