Bridged aminotroponiminate complexes of gallium and indium

Abstract

The reaction of the salt dipotassium 1,3-di[2-(isopropylamino)troponiminate]propane, K2[(iPr)TP], with MCl3 (M = Ga, In) leads to complexes of composition [{(iPr)TP}MCl] [M = Ga (1), In (2)]. The co-ordination polyhedron of 2 is best described in terms of a distorted chiral tetragonal pyramid in which the chlorine atom occupies the apex. The two seven-membered rings of the [(iPr)TP]2− ligand in 2 are twisted by about 19.9° with respect to each other. To study the reactivity of 2, the derivatives [{(iPr)TP}InMe], [{(iPr)TP}InCH2SiMe3], and [{(iPr)TP}InOtBu] were synthesised.
