Photoassisted selective catalytic reduction of NO with ammonia in the presence of oxygen at low temperature

Abstract

Rb-ion-modified V2O5/SiO2 (Rb-VS) was found to be an effective catalyst for photoassisted selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH3 in the presence of oxygen at room temp erature. V2O5/SiO2 and SiO2 did not promote the reaction either in the dark or with irradiation. The reaction mechanism over irradiated Rb-VS is different from the conventional NO SCR with ammonia. NO x is firstly adsorbed over irradiated Rb-VS in the presence of O2, followed by adsorption of NH3.
