Li[Cp2Zr(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(η2 ∶1,2-PhC2C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)]: an anionic zirconium(ii) intermediate for carbon–carbon coupling

Abstract

The unexpected anionic ZrII complex [Cp2Zr(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(η2∶1,2-PhC2 C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)] was isolated from LiC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh and Cp2ZrCl2 in THF, giving clear evidence for a CC coupling between two alkynyl moieties, one of them being η2-bonded to the zirconium atom.
