Synthesis of mono- and di-nuclear palladium diselenolenes from bis(cycloalkeno)-1,4-diselenins: X-ray crystal structure of [Pd(C7H10Se2)(PBu3)2]

Abstract

The reaction between [Pd₂(dba)₃] (dba=dibenzylideneacetone), tributylphosphine, and a bis(cycloalkeno)-1,4-diseleninleads to either a mononuclear [Pd{SeC(R¹)2 C(R²)Se}(PBu₃)₂], or a dinuclear [Pd₂{SeC(R¹)2 C(R²)Se}₂(PBu₃)₂] diselenolene (R¹–R²=(CH₂) n ; n =4, 5,6) depending on the stoichiometry employed; the structure of the monomeric product with n =5 has been determined by X-ray crystallography.
