A novel two-electron mixed-valence Ir(II)–Ir(0) complex

Abstract

An IrII–Ir0 mixed-valence complex, Ir2{MeN[P(OEtF3)2]2}3Cl2 (OEtF3 = OCH2CF3), has been prepared by treatment of Ir2Cl2(cod)2 with 3 equiv. of MeN[P(OEtF3)2]2; donor ligands (CNBut and PEt3) add to the binuclear core, which provides a novel platform for the multielectron activation of small molecule substrates.
