New organic charge transfer salts (ET)4(FeCl4)2 and (ET)FeCl4 : preparation, structure, XP spectra and electrical properties

Abstract

New charge transfer salts (ET)4(FeCl4)21 and (ET)FeCl42 have been prepared by the diffusion method [ET=bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene] and their crystal structures have been solved by X-ray analysis. The single crystals have a room temperature conductivity of 10 S cm–1 , metal-conducting behavior over the temperature range 250–300 K and 10–2 S cm–1 , semiconducting behavior over the temperature range 160–300 K, respectively. The XP spectrum of (ET)4(FeCl4)21 was also studied.
