Convenient synthesis of alkynyl aryl seleno- and telluro-ethers

Abstract

The reaction of bis(alkynyl)mercurials [Hg(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)2] (R = C6H5, C6H4Me-4 or ferrocenyl) with diaryl dichalcogenides (ER′)2 (E = Se, R′ = C6H5 or C6H4Cl-4; E = Te, R′ = C6H5) conveniently provided high yields of the alkynyl aryl chalcogenoethers RC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CER′.
